The Sight Center can provide help to people with even the most extreme vision loss. We offer a unique blend of multi-disciplinary services that provide direct support to people of all ages, socio-economic levels, and virtually every range of visual impairment.
What does The Sight Center offer that is unique?
The Sight Center works with each person to determine an individualized plan of treatment, which incorporates needed adaptive aids, devices, training and assistance in the home or elsewhere. The Sight Center loans devices to clients to ensure that they are right for the patient in achieving their personal goals. Some examples of available adaptive aids and devices include:

How to make an appointment?
The first step is to simply contact us. This can be done by calling, emailing or completing our Self Referral Form or by having your eye doctor contact us on your behalf. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will guide you through the rest of the process.
Will The Sight Center maintain contact with my physician?
Absolutely! The referring physician always remains the primary eye care provider. The Sight Center’s certified staff, including our Low Vision Optometrists, provide a full report to the referring physician regarding the recommended treatment as well as services provided for each patient.
Can referrals be made by someone other than a physician?
Referrals for low vision services can come from any source, including the person experiencing the vision loss. While most referrals are made by ophthalmologists and optometrists, many clients reach us thanks to referrals from health and human services organizations or other health professionals in private practice throughout the region. There is no incorrect way to contact us if you think you may need our services.
What types of fees and payment options are available at The Sight Center?
Fees vary per service. Third party payments are accepted from the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), Medicare, Medicaid, selected HMOs and private
insurance plans. We strive to make sure The Sight Center is available for all who need our services. When necessary foundation and grant support money is available to those in need.
Is The Sight Center an accredited agency?
Yes! The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio is accredited by the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER), AER accredits agencies and programs that serve persons who have visual disabilities. Accreditation verifies compliance with quantitative and qualitative standards within the terms of the organization’s own stated mission and purpose. The Sight Center has maintained uninterrupted accreditation since first being recognized in 1978 by the National Accreditation Council of Agencies serving the Blind and Visually Impaired (NAC), which is now part of AER.
