Why I serve: I joined The Sight Center team in 2007, knowing very little about the agency.  In the 14 years I was a part of the staff I saw hundreds of lives changed.  The impact of the service The Sight Center provides is truly remarkable.

Lyndi Sheets, Treasurer                                                                        GBQ Partners

Why I serve: I have both a professional and personal connection to the Sight Center. On a professional level I have seven degrees of separation from the organization as I worked on the audit as a staff person with GJM, was cube mates with former Executive Director Stacey Butts and worked with the former treasurer. On a personal level, my grandma suffers from wet macular degeneration, so the mission of the Sight Center is close to my heart. I am proud to put my accounting and finance skills to use as the Treasurer of the Sight Center.

Emily Dye – ProMedica

Why I serve: I am Emily Dye, current ProMedica Physicians Leasing Specialist. I am serving my first term on the board, although I attended my first board meeting in April of 1994 when I was with my father, a former board chair, for Take Your Daughter To Work Day. I was 12 years old. Now it is my turn to be my family representative to support this wonderful organization.

Brian Green – Walman Optical

Why I serve: For decades, my family and I have been involved in the eye care industry. With our passion for eye care and the strong connections we have within the regional area, serving The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio has been a natural fit.

Ginny Martin – Ginny Martin & Associates Consulting

Why I serve: I originally agreed to serve on the board at the invitation of a friend who was also a board member.  My background is in healthcare consulting and I understood they were in need of advice concerning the revenue cycle process.

Once I attended several meetings and got to meet the wonderful staff and saw what a difference this organization makes in visually challenged individuals, I just want to tell the world what a great organization this is and how super all the staff is.

It’s a privilege and honor to serve on this board.

Daniel Miller – Trust Company Family Offices

Why I serve: I believe strongly in the Sight Center’s mission of improving the lives of those in our community.  In addition to contributing to the Sight Center’s goals, I value learning from some of the most accomplished, thoughtful, and generous professionals in Northwest Ohio.

Sister Linda Pelagio – Sisters of Notre Dame

Why I serve: My name is Sr. Linda Maria Pelagio, a sister of Notre Dame. I am originally from the Philippines.  I lost my eyesight at the age of six due to allergic reactions from Penicillin and Solfa.  It is with grateful heart and humbled to admit that I was a former client of the Sight Center.  It is through the Sight Center in collaboration with the Bureau of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired, BSVI, that I acquired my basic training in technology and refresher course in mobility especially in the Toledo area.  This skills training enables me to meet the demands of my past and present ministries along with my ongoing and day today activities requiring the use of a computer and other technological knowledge and skills.

It is with heartfelt gratitude, pleasure, and honor to serve this organization as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Rick Russell – Hospice of Northwest Ohio

Why I serve: Sight is a precious gift, and the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio and its mission to serve the community aligns with my own personal beliefs. Through my work at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, another area community-based nonprofit, I have come to learn, understand, and appreciate the importance of connection with the community through this mission to serve.

Michael Spahr – ProMedica Senior IT Project Manager

Why I Serve: Having previously served as a trustee and board Chairman, I’ve had the opportunity to observe, firsthand, the quality services and positive impact our staff makes on our clients. The opportunity to be part of such a professional organization and directly contribute to its growth and on-going support efforts is why I serve as a Trustee.
