COVID-19 Update & Appeal
As the only organization in the area committed by mission to enrich the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired, The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio is taking steps to keep clients safe, supported and informed during the COVID-19 outbreak. All of the following will begin immediately and continue until conditions allow us to return to our regular service-delivery model.
- All clinic appointments will be postponed to prevent potential spread
- In home training and evaluations for all 28 counties we serve are being postponed or handled remotely, when possible
- No group services will be delivered
- The Shop at The Sight Center will limit retail sales to online sales only.
Additional plans are being developed to assess the individual needs of current and former clients, and to serve as a bridge to other community resources.
COVID-19 Response Appeal
People who are sight impaired do not drive and are more reliant on assistance for transportation to the store for food, medication and even toilet paper. In addition many are just learning adaptations to independently handle daily tasks such as preparing meals, managing medications and paying bills. The disruption in rehabilitation treatment as well as increased isolation puts some at greater risk during these unprecedented times. In response, The Sight Center’s staff are reaching out via telephone, e-mail and social media. Resources are shared to assist those without support systems who have urgent needs and our certified service team will follow up with any individual who expresses vision-related concerns.
Please consider a gift to support our COVID-19 response efforts.
